Hello HSC Families,
What a wonderful start to the school year! It has been so good to see kids back in the classrooms both inside, and outside last week. Our students had such a fun-filled first day of school, I hope they came home and told you all about it! Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Teacher Meet and Greet. This week will be business as usual for drop-off and pick-up. If you are new or need a refresher, please click HERE to see the details for each location. It has been so good to get to see each of you in person! I wanted to make sure to keep you in the loop as we head into another great week of learning, so please read through this whole email.
September is Safety Month and this week we will be discussing school safety with 1st - 6th grade students during morning snack. Next week, Ms Jamie will go over safety with kindergarten students. If you do not want your child to participate in this discussion, please plan to bring your child to school after 1st period (which ends at 10:05). The safety of our HSC students is extremely important to all of us.
Speaking of coming in late...if at any point you need to bring your student(s) in after the drop off time, please make sure that you email firstname.lastname@example.org and check in at the front desk upon arrival.
What to bring reminder...
Students (and teachers) have been enjoying the opportunity to eat and learn outside! We have several canopies and picnic blankets that we will continue to set up for shade at lunch and for any outdoor classes. However, the weather is unpredictable (between scorching hot and full on thunderstorms so far) so please continue to send your student(s) to HSC with appropriate outdoor attire and refillable water bottles each day. Sunscreen and hats are also highly recommended!
Things to turn in...
If you still need to turn in any medication forms, immunizations, exemption forms, or checks for fees, please bring them in this week at drop off or pick up.
As a reminder, students should not be carrying or taking any medication at school unless the proper paperwork has been submitted to Ms. Antoinette (email@example.com). If you would like to make sure your student is able to carry their inhaler, epi pen, or take any other medication while at school, please make sure you contact the office immediately so we can get the correct paperwork taken care of.
First Field Trip...
Lastly, our first school wide field trip is quickly approaching! On Monday, September 13th, we will be visiting DINOSAUR RIDGE to check out some fossils and other amazing geological sights! This is a 1-3 mile paved hike that you will be able to explore with your student(s). Teachers will be stationed along the way to point out some fun fossil facts! We will conduct this field trip similar to the Back to School Event with two timed entries to help accommodate for parking. Tuesday and Wednesday students can come from 10-11:30 and Thursday and Friday students can come from 12:30-2:00. Please fill out this RSVP Form so we know how many families will attend so we can let the facility know. We will also be providing a fun activity guide to each student when you arrive! Only families that fill out the RSVP form will get further correspondence about this field trip, so make sure to sign up by Tuesday, September 7th if you plan on coming! HERE is a flyer for you to print and hang on your refrigerator to help you remember the details!
